The Intellectual Property Application and Research Center (FİHAMER) organized an event titled "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Intellectual Property Law, Current Issues, and Developments" on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at our Bahçelievler Campus. The event, featuring Prof. Dr. Azra Arkan Serim from Istanbul University’s Faculty of Law as the speaker, was moderated by our FİHAMER Director, Prof. Dr. İlhan Ulusan. The event, which was also attended by our Faculty of Law Dean, Prof. Dr. Cemile Gökyayla, drew participation from lawyers and academics working in this field, as well as artists interested in the topic.

During the event, discussions focused on whether visuals and sounds created by artificial intelligence qualify as "works" under the Intellectual and Artistic Works Law No. 5846 (FSEK), the legal nature of artificial intelligence, and the violations these generated visuals and sounds create in various legal fields such as intellectual property law and data protection law—all of which are current issues and developments being discussed in the legal world with the advancement of artificial intelligence technology.

The “Erasmus Projects Information Training” was organized by the IKU Technology Transfer Office on Friday, April 3, between 10:00 and 13:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

During the training, which was carried out with the contributions of TTO Director Fethi Altunay, comprehensive information was shared on the types of projects offered within the scope of the Erasmus program, application processes, project preparation stages, and important points to consider. Participating academics were informed about methods for developing Erasmus projects and international collaboration opportunities.

Organized by the IKU Vocational, an event titled “Women’s Health, Hygiene, and Endometriosis Awareness” was held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the İncirli Building of the Bakırköy Campus. The event featured Op. Dr. Salih Yılmaz from Alle Klinik as the speaker, who provided information on women’s health and endometriosis awareness.

Within the scope of the course “ARC4020 Building Science III,” conducted by Prof. Dr. Esin Kasapoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin in the Department of Architecture, a peer-learning-oriented presentation, focused on the factors and approaches that enhance success in the course, was delivered on February 11, 2026, by Abulrahman Altayeb, who graduated as the top student of the Faculty of Architecture in the 2024-2025 Academic Year and is currently pursuing his graduate studies at Politecnico di Milano.

In the following stages of the course, a site visit was requested to enable students to observe the structural details they are expected to design. As part of the event organized in collaboration with the Architecture Club on March 14, 2026, the Della-Rosa Bahçeşehir project and the soup kitchen and business centre construction sites in Hadımköy, developed by early graduates of the IKU Department of Architecture, Ulaş Toker and Erdal Kaya, were visited. Through the guidance of our alumni, students had the opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge and establish intergenerational communication, contributing to a stronger sense of institutional belonging.

The event titled “Patentnovation 2026: Patent and Innovation in Health Sciences,” where the processes of transforming innovative ideas developed in the fields of health and biomedical sciences into patents were discussed, was held on Thursday, April 2, between 10:00 and 16:00 at the Faculty of Health Sciences in the Bahçelievler Campus.

At the event organized under the coordination of the Technology Transfer Office, comprehensive information was provided on the protection of research in the field of health within the scope of intellectual property rights, patent application processes, and the commercialization of innovative projects. Throughout the program, our faculty members gained insights into patent strategies in health technologies and had the opportunity to evaluate the patent potential of their own academic studies.

The IKU Vocational School organized a talk titled “E-Commerce Operations in Turkish Marketplaces: Trendyol Panel Application” on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Held at the İncirli Building of the Bakırköy Campus, the event featured M. Levent Elmas, Founder of L-Event Academy and Digital Transformation Specialist, as the guest speaker. The session was moderated by Lecturer Dr. İrem Oran. During the event, participants were informed about the dynamics of e-commerce, marketplace management, and the use of the Trendyol panel application.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Technology Transfer Office (TTO) participated in the “EIT Higher Education Initiative Co-Creation Workshop,” held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, within the scope of the ELICIA Project and the European Union EIT HEI Program. The workshop, where academics and experts from different countries shared their experiences, provided a productive platform for knowledge exchange and strengthened collaboration.

During the program, the intellectual property training programs and activities carried out by the TTO were shared with participants and plans to increase intellectual property awareness at our university were also presented. IKU Technology Transfer Office will continue to strengthen knowledge sharing and collaborations through such international events.

Organized by the Political Science and International Relations Club, a “Speaking Club” event was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Classroom A301 at the Küçükçekmece Campus. During the event, participants discussed questions such as “Can war ever be justified?” and “Does social media influence elections?”, explored different perspectives, and generated new ideas.

As part of the “Intellectual Property Rights and Design Ethics” course offered in the Program of Graphic Design, the workshop phase of the event titled “Reproducible Art in Graphics and Sustainable Printmaking” was held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, with multidisciplinary artist Çiğdem Şenyürek. Our students transformed everyday materials such as milk cartons, wooden spoons, and old cotton fabrics with a creative perspective, producing sustainable printmaking works.

Following these environmentally friendly and original works, our students were awarded digital certificates and workshop-specific design notebooks by Şenyürek.

In collaboration with the IKU Faculty of Law and the Lawyers’ Rights Group, a symposium titled “Current Issues in Legal Practice” will be organized. The event, featuring expert speakers in their respective fields, will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, between 10.00-17.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Centre in the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Program of E-Commerce and Marketing will organize a talk titled "E-Commerce Applications: Ozon Global and the Russian Market" to inform students about the workings of global marketplaces and current opportunities in the Russian market. The event, featuring  Head of Business Development at Ozon Global Zeynep Çiftçi, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 11.00 on the CATS platform.

The Program of Public Relations and Promotion will be organizing a talk titled "Personal Branding Concept & Digital Leadership" to inform students about data, algorithms, and platform-focused visibility in the new generation of public relations disciplines. The event, featuring President of Piar Communication Agency Selin Oran, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 11.30 in the 1A01 amphitheater in the İncirli building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Communication and Design will be organizing an "Alumni Panel" event to allow our alumni to share their experiences with our students. One of our alumni and Corporate Communication and Brand Management Specialist at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Vuslat Vurucu, will be the speaker at the event, which will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 13.00 in the multipurpose hall on the 2nd floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Literature Club will be organizing a conference titled "Sabahattin Ali and Yusuf from Kuyucak" to commemorate Sabahattin Ali and learn about his life and literary personality. The event, featuring a faculty member from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Assist. Prof. Güler Uğur Melikoğlu, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 13.00  in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with UZEMER and the Dean of Students Office, a "Python Programming Training" will be organized for students preparing for and interested in the TEKNOFEST competitions. The training, given by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, from 14.00 to 18.00 in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Institute of Graduate Education will be organizing a webinar titled "Artificial Intelligence Policies in Academic Research and Publications." The event, featuring Public Health and Health Informatics Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dilek Yapar as the speaker, will take place on Tuesday, April 7, at 14.00 via Microsoft Teams. The Department of Basic Education will organize a seminar titled "Social and Emotional Learning in Childhood" to increase the awareness of preschool teacher candidates regarding social and emotional learning. The event, featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mine Göl-Güven from Boğaziçi University as the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, April 8, from 10.00  to 13.00  in the Conference Hall of the Küçükçekmece Campus.

The Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will be organizing a "Career Days" event on Wednesday, April 8, from 13.00 to 17.00 at the Radisson Blu Ottomare Hotel in Zeytinburnu.

The  Department of Public Relations and Advertising will be organizing a discussion titled "On Public Relations with Alumni..." to explore changing public relations practices among its alumni. The event, featuring Aytemiz Investment Support Specialist Koray Eren Aydemir and Empa Elektronik Human Resources Specialist Neşe Dila Çelikbaş as speakers, will take place on Wednesday, April 8, at 13.00 in the multipurpose hall on the 3rd floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Communication and Design will be organizing a talk titled "From Prompt to Stage: Building a Cinematic World with Artificial Intelligence" to inform students about the introduction of artificial intelligence tools and their integration into cinema. The event, featuring Lecturer Dr. Murat Fırat as the speaker, will take place on Wednesday, April 8, at 14.00 in the multipurpose hall on the first floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Public Relations and Advertising will be organizing a seminar titled "Creative Advertising Workshop" to provide students with information on project topics within the scope of the "Advertising Workshop IV" course. The event, featuring Art Director Başak Ceylan and Strategist Ezgi Yağcı from Jupiter Agency as speakers, will take place on Thursday, April 9, ​​at 11.00 in the multi-purpose seminar hall of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Program of Construction Technology will be organizing a seminar titled "YTONG Solutions in Energy Efficient and Safe Buildings" to introduce students to YTONG, a leading company in the sector, and to provide them with information about its products. The event, featuring YTONG company representative Oruç İcen Cerbezer as the speaker, will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 13.00 in room AK B11 of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Public Relations and Advertising will host a seminar to inform students about Occupational Health and Safety. The event, featuring IKU Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Cumhur Gültekin as the speaker, will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 13:00 in the multipurpose hall on the first floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Financial Literacy Club, the Program of E-Commerce and Marketing, the Program of International Trade, and the Department of Business Administration, a "DGS Information and Career Guidance Event" will be held to provide students with information about the DGS (A Nationwide exam for transferring to bachelor’s programs) 03.04 process and to introduce undergraduate programs. The event, featuring a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 13:00 in the İncirli Building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Program of E-Commerce and Marketing will organize a visit to the OMG! Communication agency on Thursday, April 9, at 13:00, to allow students to experience the agency’s work environment and meet industry professionals.

In collaboration with UZEMER and the Dean of Students Office, an "LLM and NLP Training" session will be held for students preparing for TEKNOFEST competitions and those interested in the subject. The training, to be delivered by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay, will take place on Thursday, April 9, from 14:00 to 18:00 in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Faculty of Law will host a conference titled "The Anatomy of Migration," which will provide foundational knowledge on the concept of migration—a key topic in international law. The event, featuring Dr. Ülkü Sezgi Sözen from the University of Hamburg, Germany, as the speaker, will take place online on Thursday, April 9, at 18:00.

The IKU Center for Fine Arts Practice and Research (GSUAM) will present the play titled “The Devil Within” to art enthusiasts. The play will be staged on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 17:30 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Arts Center in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The second guest of the "Clinical Psychology Development Seminars" organized by the Department of Psychology will be Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Specialist Dr. Bilge Didem Tunalı, who will deliver a talk titled "Attention Deficit in Children: Diagnosis, Assessment, and Intervention." The event will take place online via Google Meet on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 21:00.

The Molecular Biology and Genetics Club is organizing the "5th Science-Free Talks" event to enhance students’ scientific and academic knowledge and introduce them to multidisciplinary research areas. Featuring speakers Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Koca Çaydaşı, Dr. Emine Kazanç, and Res. Asst. The Department of Cartoon and Animation will host a panel discussion titled "Sound Design and Music in Film" to help students understand the role of sound design and music in shaping narrative, emotion, and atmosphere, and to enable them to effectively integrate visual and auditory elements. The event, featuring composer and sound designer Mine Pakel as the speaker, will take place on Friday, April 10, at 13.:00 in the multipurpose hall on the first floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus.
